Recruiters see surge of Long Island jobs
Friday, August 26th, 2011Recruiters say they are seeing more Long Island jobs, even though the unemployment rate remains stuck.
While the US unemployment rate is 9.1%, Long Island unemployment is unchanged.
But there are signs of hope.
“We’re seeing midsized and smaller companies start to rehire again in industries like real estate, construction as well as public firms,” Christopher Campisi, metro market manager for Long Island and Queens for Pleasanton, Calif.-based staffing firm Robert Half International, told LIBN.com. “Full-time hires are stronger.”
Agencies who specialize in staffing say they’re seeing more orders come in, which means more hiring.
But there is still a dire need of jobs. In neighboring Rhode Island, a hospital has cut Rhode Island healthcare jobs. Elsewhere in the nation other employers are also making heavy cuts.
